Etiquette is a major part of Poker and Texas Hold’em, and players are expected to conform to certain basic mannerisms. These are not rules per se, but a way to ensure orderliness. Gentlemen are expected to play in their own best interests and with integrity. The actions looked down upon are,

1. Playing out of turn. Poker flows in a specific way between players, and to play out of turn creates disorder.

2. Splashing the pot. Poker chips are always to be kept orderly so that anyone can see their value at a glance. Dumping the chips into the pot helps no one.

3. Telling other players the value of cards at an inappropriate time.

4. Nicking the cards. Damaging cards to indicated their value violates the spirit of fair play.

5. Loud winning and bad losing. It is easy to fall prey to emotion when winning or losing large hands, but this is considered impolite.

6. Unnecessary talk. Any talk irrelevant to the game at hand is considered out of place, especially advice or commentary to other players.

7. Playing too fast or too slowly. An appropriate speed is a prerequisite for a good game.

8. Cellular Phones. The bane of many a poker table is the person who talks on his cell phone during the game, causing a lot of disturbance and distraction.

2. Sledging. Online casinos are notorious as the mask of nicknames brings out the worst in people. Always behave in a polite way so as to ensure a good game for all.

3. Disconnecting during a game is considered very rude, and some websites have even imposed a system of penalties for such action. Always see the game through till the end, for good or bad.

4. Above all, remember that it’s a game. Go ahead, have fun!
