What’s Expected of a Homecoming Dress?

What makes Homecoming so popular? Everything about it! Homecoming is usually held in September and is the first formal dance that kicks off the new school year. Almost everyone from school attends this highly anticipated event. Homecoming stands out as an event where you can display your fashion sense. Many girls love to pick out glamorous dresses that will be coveted by all their friends. Most guys aren't that eager to dress up, but they do like showing off their dates, especially if they're the coolest girls in school!

Plan early, especially if you are one of the nominees for Homecoming Queen. Designer dresses are produced in limited quantities and sell out quickly, making early planning essential to choosing the right dress. If you don't start shopping quickly, you'll miss out on the year's best styles and on that perfect, unique dress.

To find the best dress for you, take a look at the new designs that have come out this year and select which designer's style you like the best. Jovani and Flirt are two of my personal favorites. I really like Jovani's "Beyond the Prom" style, since these dresses could also be worn to New Year's Eve parties. Once you have picked a designer whose dresses you like, shopping and trying on dresses is a lot of fun. Since your preferred designer might not have the variation you'd like in the store, you might also consider shopping online.

It is actually quite easy and fast to shop online for your dress, helping you order the gown of your dreams before it is sold out. Your first step should be to record your measurements carefully in order to select the appropriate size for your chosen gown using the chart provided by the designer of the garment. Be careful, though, because it isn't possible to select a dress by one designer based upon another designer's size chart. Size charts vary between designers. I'm a size 6 for Flirt gowns, but a size 4 in Jovani's "Beyond the Prom" line of dresses.

Be realistic and order the dress size that fits you right now, instead of the smaller size that you think will work. Even with that fantastic diet on the cover of your women's magazine, you might not be your dream size by Homecoming. If your diet is successful and you lose 20 pounds in one month, fabulous! A tailor can easily take in the seams of your dress and you'll be beautiful. But don't buy a dress that doesn't fit well now. You don't want to be stressed out trying to diet to fit into the gown. Buy what fits, and you'll look good without having to lose weight.

There are so many benefits to buying online. The selection is far greater than the stores in your area can offer. There are even terrific prices! Online stores can provide you with a variety of choices and better bargains than traditional department stores due to the fact that they have lower overhead. After buying from an online store, you may never want to shop at a department store again!
