Tension Setting Rings and Tension Engagement Rings Tension setting diamond rings, tension setting engagement rings and tension wedding rings are growing in popularity as no other style may match their beauty and elegance. Tension diamond rings are based on the principle of retaining a gemstone under the pressure exerted by the metallurgical strength of the metal alone, no prongs or bezel employed. The qualities of few metals allowed their use in creating new concepts in tension setting engagement rings, tension wedding rings, tension men’s rings, tension set diamond engagement rings and many other designs. Tension diamond rings are based on the principle of retaining a gemstone under the pressure exerted by the strength of the metal of the ring alone. In other words, the gemstones are squeezed by the springiness of the ring, In many precious metals, the tensile strength of the alloys used can reach the 12,000 psi (that's pounds per square inch!). Accordingly, a Tension Setting ring can retain only a gemstone of hardness of or exceeding 9 on the Mhoe scale, the likes of Rubies, Sapphires, Cubic Zirconia and, of course, diamonds.
Almost the entire of a tension mounted diamond is exposed to the eye and to the effects of light, with the exception of two small contact areas. No other style can match the beauty of a tension setting diamond ring. Tension setting engagement rings and tension wedding rings are growing in popularity as the style is very impressive, safe and solid . Almost the entire of a tension mounted diamond is exposed to the eye and to the effects of light, with the exception of two small contact areas.
The designer Steven Kretchmer was the first to adopt these styles in North America and soon was followed by Gelin & Abaci (G&A). They all apply special techniques to create new alloys of strong and springy precious metals. They achieved these results through special thermal treatments and other techniques.
In the late 1990, several designers realized the potential and possibilities in the immense strength and other superior qualities of those metals, of high tensile strength of over 90,000 and over 100,000 psi, and the ability to use them in designing new impressive styles in tension setting engagement rings and tension wedding rings.
This form of diamond setting was used first in Germany and Prof. Becker is credited with its inception in the 1950s. It was then heavily marketed in the 1980s by the Niessing Company of Germany. The use of the word "Tension" in Tension Rings and Tension Settings is a bit misleading, as tension diamond rings are held under pressure rather than tension.
The designers of Absolute Titanium Design Studios were amongst the first to use titanium and zirconium metals in creating new tension diamond ring styles and tension earrings. Their talented creative touches have shaped several original designs for tension men’s rings, tension set diamond engagement rings and many other beautiful designs.
To enhance the value and the beauty of their rings, they are using conflict free ethical Igloo diamonds, a brand of Canadian diamonds, as well as Lab Grown diamonds, as an ethical alternative to replace other gemstones.
Furthermore, in introducing their “Black Zone” (TM) Absolute Titanium Design Studios are offering all their tension setting bands also in black zirconium metal and in their in house developed, proprietary black titanium. So, it is possible to have your black tension setting in either black titanium tension rings or black zirconium tension settings.
It is not, therefore, astonishing, that Absolute Titanium Design Studios gained the legal rights for the slogan “The Tension is Mounting”®. Their rings utilize tension settings in their mounting in creating unique tension engagement rings. Where else, after all, in one's life cycle, one experiences more mounting tension? A diamond tension ring is presented... the question is popped... “the tension is mounting”... And, hopefully, the tension setting does it...
