One of these trails, the Mount Vernon trail runs for 17 miles along the Potomac, continuing through Alexandria to George Washington’s plantation home In Arlington's southeast corner, immediately south of Ronald Reagan Washington national airport, the Mount Vernon Trail connects to the four mile trail run Trail, which travels westward through Arlington in a stream valley.
