Ibiza Holidays
All that comes to our mind as soon as we hear of holidays in Ibiza are the clubs, alcohol and sex. Unfortunately, Ibiza has acquired an image that makes people who plan their family holidays think twice before they can choose Ibiza as their destination for family vacation. Positive efforts are taken by the Spanish government to change this image and to project Ibiza as a place that is suitable for family vacation too.
One of the major attractions of Ibiza is the clubbing activity. Ibiza is relatively a small island in the Mediterranean Sea. The island consists of five regions which include, Santa Eularia, San Antoni, Evissa, San Josep and San Joan. The biggest region among these 5 is Evissa or Ibiza town and the second biggest region is San Antoni. The roads in Ibiza are good except a few roads that lead to interior villages. Ibiza has some beautiful shores and mountains.
The major attractions of the Island are the clubs. They attract thousands of visitors every year especially in the summer. Some of the top clubs include Privilege, DC10, Pacha, Amnesia, Es Paradis, Eden, El Divino and Space.
Each club has their own specialty for example the world’s largest club Privilege draws tourists through its size. Also the club’s interior changes dramatically every night which will make you think whether that was the place you were the night before. The ceiling of the club is 25 meter high. They have something different and special every night. You will also find an open air swimming pool. Many celebrities including Madonna have visited this club. Whereas Space tries to attract customers through its open air terrace theatre and space. Space has won many awards of excellence such as the 2001 Dancestar award, 'Best Global Club' for two consecutive years, 2005 and 2006 at the International Dance Music. Space’s 22 hour long “We Love Sundays @ Space” weekly specials are famous. They are open between 8 am Sunday and 6 am Monday.
Amnesia which was originally an open air theatre is no more an open air theatre. The specialty here is the sound effects. Thursdays are special at Amnesia with their biggest weekly event “Cream”. Amnesia dates back to 1976. Amnesia nights can be really expensive however, many people flock to Amnesia to enjoy the unique environment and the variety through out the week.
Another famous club in Ibiza is Pacha. It was started in 1973. Pacha is open during winter as well and it is probably the only club that is open during winter. It can accommodate up to 3500 people.
DC10 is one of the less crowded clubs. The special attraction here is the gigantic airplanes that are inflatable. It can accommodate up to 1500 people. This was started in 2000.
All of them use a different strategy to attract visitors. As the competition grows stiff, the quality of the clubs too gets better so that they can attract many new customers and also retain the existing customers. Ibiza holidays are not worth it if you do not spend a couple of nights at these clubs.
