Wedding Day Jitters

Flowers for Weddings

Flowers form a major part of a wedding and they are used in every part of the event. You can have them in the ceremony area, decorating the reception venue and the bride’s maids and bride will carry bouquets of flowers down the aisle. The flowers are very important, but are also very expensive. There are however many ways that you can reduce the costs of wedding flowers without compromising on the effect or quantity.

One of the first things you need to do is settle on a flower budget during your wedding planning stage. Once you have done your research as to what flowers generally costs and created a budget according to where you want the flowers, you can start looking for ways to come in below your budget but still have a high quality look. You can start by deciding on what types of flowers you want. Think of the colors you are using for your wedding and then be creative. Most brides love using roses, but chrysanthemums can look just as beautiful and are much cheaper. It will also depend on the time of year and whether the specific flowers you want are in season or not. Try to go for flowers that are in season and easy to get hold of.

Once you have been to a florist and designed the centerpieces and bouquets, you can get a better idea of how they will look. To get cheaper centerpieces what you will need to do is create the volume and height with other items. The majority of the flowers can be displayed at the outer edges while the in the middle of the arrangements you can have the florist use tall spiraled twigs sprayed in gold, silver or white depending on the colors you want. They can even be glittered, and some come with glass beads on them. You can also catch the eye with hanging crystals from taller base stands and for different centerpieces you can have three single flowers like specimen roses twirled in a long vase along with floating candles in a bowl that is positioned on top of the vase. Sprinkle some rose petals and glitter on the tables and you have a stunning, unique and cheaper centerpiece.

You can also use lighting to create a very effective centerpiece without the use of too many flowers. Taking inspiration from a Thai or tropical themed wedding, you can use florist jelly in the vibrant colors of your choice and fill vases with it surrounded by tealight candles. In it you can place a few large flowers like hibiscus which will have a dramatic effect. You can also use lots of greenery with a few large, striking flowers to make a cheaper, earthier atmosphere. You can use lots of ivy, ferns, and palm leaves, and then accent this will large tulips, hibiscus, gerberas or lilies.

If you use your imagination and think of unique ways to do centerpieces you can have a load of fun, be different and save a lot of money at the same time.
