Introducing Honda’s newest Hybrid Concept Car – the Insight

A concept version of Honda’s new small hybrid vehicle, the Insight, will be unveiled at the 2008 Paris International Auto Show on October 2. The new Insight Concept is believed to have incorporated styling cues of Honda’s hydrogen fuel cell vehicle – the FCX Clarity.

The all-new five-door, five-passenger Insight will hit the US market in the Spring of 2009 at a price lower than that of hybrids available on the market today. The Insight will be positioned as an affordable and accessible hybrid car that will provide excellent fuel economy, driving pleasure and great value in its segment.

The Insight will use a more cost-efficient form of Honda technology - Integrated Motor Assistance. The Insight will be packed as a small, fuel-efficient hybrid hatchback that will offer more fun with its spirited performance. Designed with a low center of gravity, the generous cabin will be loaded with latest technological features to help buyers enjoy more interior amenities. Its aerodynamic design will identify its fuel-efficient purpose, while its five-door access and folding rear seats symbolize its practical use.
Background
In December 1999, the Honda Insight was first introduced as America’s first gas-electric hybrid vehicle. It was the first two-passenger sub-compact vehicle to break the 70-mpg fuel economy barrier.
